Victoria Secret Nail Varnish in 'Runway Angel'

    

    

    

    

On a recent trip to New York my brothers lovely girlfriend picked me up this beautiful nail polish. Unfortunately I did not visit New York and am still yet to step foot in a Victoria Secret store but one day this shall happen! 

'Runway Angel' is a gorgeous golden, glitter that most definitely lives up to its claims of being 'a high gloss, performance lacquer.' I find a lot of polishes look great in the bottle and once applied barely translate onto the nails at all which is not the case with this. It is not just a polish that looks incredible in the bottle but one that is equally as pretty on the nails. Runway Angel is made up of a mixture of small and large glitter pieces that can be worn as a top coat over other polishes or built up to be worn alone. Most of the time I seem to wear it built up on its own to add a little sparkle to everyday life but it does look great over a neutral base like Essie Fiji. In general I tend to find glitter polishes last longer on my nails with this as no exception. I could easily get away with wearing this for a good 5 days which on my nails is good! On a little side note - I adore the square, unique shaped bottle that I think are similar to the American Apparel polishes? It looks so pretty on my dressing table! 

Since falling in love with the consistency and shade of this polish I've been had a sneaky look on the VS website and found it comes in a variety of shades! 'Just kiss me' and 'Backstage' have already been added to my wish list! Have you tried the VS polishes? 

Topshop 'Crystal Clouds'

        

        

      

      

      

Christmas may be the only occasion in winter you'll see my nails without a dark berry shade on and its only coming off for something special! The Topshop nail polish in 'Crystal Clouds' was pulled out from my collection to add a little festive cheer and I actually forgot how much I love it. A beautiful golden, metallic champagne shade that in some light can even look silver. It applies so effortlessly and is opaque in 2 coats but if you're in a rush can be worn with just one. I can't believe how well it has lasted without being used in the last 9 months compared to my Essie polishes. The consistency and formula is just as great as when I bought it where as my Essie polishes are thick, gloppy and unusable. The bottle like all Topshop make up is adorable and so unusual to any other varnishes out there.

This is the only Topshop nail varnish I own but after seeing how great it has lasted and how easy they are so apply I think I'll be buying these instead of Essie in the future!

Essie Dupe!

If there was ever a product that bloggers made me buy, this is it. The infamous Essie 'Fiji' polish, described as a creamy, pale pink that everyone and their mum seems to own!

As soon as I spotted the Sally Hansen polish in 'Shell we dance' I knew it would be a great dupe. 

As you can see from the pictures they are pretty similar both are a very pale, soft, milky pink with white undertones. The only difference I find is 'Fiji' once built up has a stronger white undertone and is more opaque than 'Shell we dance.' Both polishes apply very sheer and take at least three coats to build up an opaque colour so if you are in a hurry these aren't the ones to be reaching for! I've gotta admit I find them difficult to apply, they tend to end up streaky until you build them up and take a lot of time. They need three thin coats and each coat needs to be completely dry before applying the next or it'll just go gloppy and smudge, trust me this happened many times! This being said if you've got the time it's worth it! Once applied they both have a gorgeous, creamy finish that looks glossy without a top coat and makes the perfect everyday shade. It goes with everything and is great for work or interviews. 

This was the first time I've tried the Sally Hansen polishes and I've gotta say they are giving Essie a run for their money in my books! They've recently launched in Boots so much more readily available in the Uk, are a pound cheaper at £6.99 compared to the Essie polishes at £7.99 and I think I prefer the brush. The Sally Hansen polishes have a thicker, larger brush that I personally find easier and quicker to use.

I want to try more of the Sally Hansen polishes and see how they compare to other Essie polishes before I can choose a favourite! Do you have any colour recommendations I should try?
