Models Own 'Scented' polishes

My boyfriend picked these up for me as a gift a few weeks. I'm usually more drawn to bright colours whilst browsing the aisles like corals and pinks so its nice to be able to try something I wouldn't usually buy myself.

I've never taken much notice with any of the nail crazes of this year like magnetic nails and the crackle polishes so the concept that these are supposedly scented didn't really excited me. Personally I find it all a bit of a gimmick and marketing ploy, yes they do have a subtle smell but nothing that lasts or is going to wow you. Especially after applying a top coat! When the varnish is wet and in the bottle they still have a typical nail varnish smell. To me it's still all about the colours.

If you are looking for a milky pastel shade then these would be right up your street. 'Blueberry Muffin' is a pale baby blue shade while 'Grape Juice' is a subtle pastel lilac and 'Strawberry Tart' a perfect strawberry milkshake pink.

The formula like all the Models Own polishes I've tried is great, I do find they need building up with 2/3 coats for an opaque finish but I'd expect this with any polish. I actually think Models Own are my favourite formula and have the best brushes. They seem to last a long time in the bottle without going gloppy and the brushes make them easy to apply to achieve a streak free application. They last just as long as my Essie polishes and even remind me of the infamous bloggers favourite 'Fiji' just with more colour.

I think my boyfriend picked them up on a 3 for 2 special offer but they're usually £5 each at Boots. I've seen Revlon do similar scented polishes so think I'm going to pick up a couple of them soon to see if the scent is more noticeable.

Have you tried these polishes or any scented polishes?!

  1. I think the colours of these look so pretty - it's nice to try something you wouldn't normally go for every so often.

I've got the mint coloured nail polish from this range and really like the colour. However, due to it being scented I didn't want to wear a top coat otherwise the scent will be covered so it did chip quite easily :( I wish there was a win-win with this!!

  2. What a sweet boyfriend, top marks for him! Must admit I am not one for nail trends, but I do like pastel nails. These colours are gorgeous, I wouldn't mind if them were scented or not!
